Budapest Central Market #2

The biggest market hall of the city, the Központi Vásárcsarnok, is situated right next to the Szabadság híd, on the Pest side.
It was opened in 1897 and it was renovated on its 100th anniversary. This market hall is probably the biggest and most gorgeous one in Europe – the exterior reflects the gothic style that is mixed with Hungarian ornaments and the tiles on the roof are all made by the world-renowned Zsolnay porcelain manufacture.
Nowadays the market hall is a real tourist paradise, but you will more likely find fresh local delicacies, fruits, vegetables, wines, spirits, salamis and meat products than typical souvenirs. You can try the local dishes as well, like lángos or Unicom, in one of the buffets or restaurants on the first floor.
Central Market Hall - Budapest's main produce market is great for local delicacies. Impeccably clean, it has numerous stalls selling meat, salami, fruit & vegetables. The upper floor has a small cafe & souvenir stalls.
